NYPD Muslim Officers Society (MOS)
The NYPD Muslim Officers Society (MOS) was founded in 1992 to support Muslim officers within the New York Police Department. It was established as the first fraternal organization for Muslim law enforcement officers in the United States. The society's primary mission is to provide a support network for Muslim officers, promote unity, and address challenges they may face both within the department and in the broader community.
The MOS also focuses on enhancing relations between the NYPD and the Muslim community, fostering mutual understanding and cooperation. Over the years, the society has been involved in various community outreach programs, mentorship initiatives, and has played a key role in organizing Islamic funeral services for fallen members.
In addition to offering support in times of personal loss, the society works to ensure that Muslim officers are treated fairly and are able to practice their faith while serving. The NYPD Muslim Officers Society continues to be an important resource for Muslim officers in New York City, advocating for their needs and promoting a sense of community and solidarity.
